Google launches a ‘Character Counter Tool’ in their AI Overviews

Google’s newest update to AI Overviews introduces a new tool. The Character Counter allows users to paste text and determine the total number of characters. As advertisers know, character limits are imposed upon us all throughout major social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn. Character limits demonstrate the emphasis on quality copy rather than abundance within your social posts to generate follow-up engagement and interest.

Google changes its policy to include personalised ads for alcohol advertisers on YouTube

Google has announced a change to its policy that will take effect on the 30th of October. This change enables personalised targeting on YouTube for alcohol advertising, which was previously a restricted category. The change has evolved from growing advertiser interest, emerging categories and improvements to controls and data protections.

It allows alcohol advertisers to use personalised ads on YouTube’s platform rather than being limited to non-personalised advertising. However, Google’s existing advertising policies and regulations still remain, especially with age restrictions being enforced. But this is a great opportunity for industry-specific alcohol advertisers to pursue more targeted ads to effectively attract their consumers.
